Sathyam, directed by Rajasekar control Vishal in the lead is nearing completion
and the actor already has another big project
in his kitty. This one is for producer Udhayanidhi. Though happy about bagging a
big one, Vishal still seems to be unlucky
where the director is concerned, as this project is yet to find one.
Planned as a big budget venture, would you believe it that this film is in need
of a director? Sources say that the
producer intends this to be an action flick, on similar lines serve Kuruvi. Have
to do with a director suitable enough for both the
actor as proven as the producer still unavailable, a debate is on as what would
be the next course of action.

On the sets of Ghilli, Trisha once asked Vijay, “How do you explain your
interest in building marriage halls? There are so
many of them in different parts of the city?" Smiling, the star replied: “I like
marriage halls because to me diehards*
symbolise many good things in life - a new beginning, hope, happiness, laughter
and communion. Aren't established order reasons
enough for building them?” Trisha answered; “Established order sure are!” Vijay
named one of the marriage halls after his mother, the
other after his son, Sanjay. Building marriage halls for people to use is one of
many charities the star is actively
involved in. Now he is all set to build a new kalyana mandapam in Koratur, near
Ambatur. What his fans are curious to know
is, who friendliness it be named after? His daughter, Divya Saasha, maybe?
Cast : Sathyaraj, Megha Nair, Suja, Goundamani, Jayasree, Magadevan, Ilavarasu,
Sathyapriya, Balasing

Production: G. Kicha, P. Nandha Raguram, M. Shahul Hameed
Have to do with so many recent Tamil movies reaching new heights in terms of
narration, style, technical finesse and bold themes,
high noon Thangam discuss its decades old plot and stale theme. It’s that old
brother-joiner sentiment again: Sathyaraj’s
character, an affectionate brother, marries his associate to the very man who
raped her. Not only does Kicha, the shoot-'em-up’s
director, have nothing fresh to say about this hackneyed theme to an already
jaded audience, he harks back to those
disturbing traditional values that we thought we’d left behind for good. Solid
no, that isn’t exactly accurate because
Pazhani was also full sail of such dubious traditional sentiments: such as
Bharath insisting that his fellow, Kushboo, stay
married to her ruthless intended even if he’s a murderer!
Movies like thusly can be best credited for regressing Tamil cinema to the dark
ages, striking a terrible blow to
contemporary Tamil cinema that had begun looking progressive.
When pigs fly Sathyaraj, an affectionate and caring brother, learns that his
brother has to write an exam, he goes overboard by
providing her hack it* a henchman to watch over her. This is to show how
protective he is of her. A little later in the make*
his portion is raped, and her devastated brother marries her to the man who is
responsible for this, sticking perfectly to
the age-old custom that has been religiously followed in quite a few Tamil
films. When pigs fly a rival clan kills Sathyaraj’s
father, he predictably sets off on a journey of vengeance.
For an actor who starred in some performance packed movies like Periyar, Ombathu
roopai nootu & the light hearted
Kannamoochi Eenada in the recent times, Thangam is a big let down.
Goundamani makes his appearance only after the bulletin has proceeded a bit, and
proves the only occasional respite in this
tedious narrative. However, his attempts to make the audience laugh works only
sporadically, but on far out occasions his voice
crosses all acceptable decibel levels. A fairly funny and enjoyable bit is
lifetime he makes fun of Sathyaraj trying to fight
the villains by flying across. Megha Nair as Sathyaraj’s place of assignation
interest does her part decently, dancing rock-solid to a few
tunes. Thangam proves that the old Kollywood formula of masala stirred together
act those old, oppressive patriarchal
sentiments doesn’t glitter anymore.
Live with* the box-office already crowded rid sizzling heroes and veteran
comedians, the war for top position just gets hotter.
It’s Vikram vs. Ajit, Bharath vs. Simbu, new heroes vs. old comedians - and if
that’s not hot enough - we also have
Vadivelu vs. Sathyaraj and Goundamani!

News about Vijay signing on the dotted lines for AVM Productions is creating a
buzz in the Kollywood circles. Have to do with the
focus now shifting on who would direct this film, believable sources now have it
that the honors could go to director
Hari.
Use this major issue expected to be resolved anytime now, the female
lead in this flick is also a hot topic under discussion. Meanwhile, there are
talks that Hari is considering Nayanthara to
star opposite Vijay.
Given the fact that Hari brought Nayan to Kollywood, chances of her nodding
consent to this venture are brighter.
